Kim is always wowing me with her artsy techniques! I love that she is continually playing with paints and other mediums to give elements on her page a super artsy and painterly look!! Today she is showing us how to use the technique of paint splattering. I remember doing this as a child and thought it was so much fun and I often use this technique on my layouts as well but most of the time I use mists. I'm definitely going to be trying this out as well!! Thanks for sharing another great technique with us Kim!!
Hi there everyone, I usually love using lots of bright vivid colors but for this layout I kept things pretty neutral by using some of the light colored papers in the Styleboard collection and some pretty cool splattered butterflies.
I layered the patterned papers along the bottom of my page. I think they are all so pretty and I wanted to show just a little of each of them. I also added a few of the label stickers for a more layered look. The butterflies were cut using my silhouette and then splattered using a little black gouache mixed with water. I lay the butterflies out on a paper towel and holding the brush from different heights I just flick the brush and paint on them. Sometimes I squeeze the brush to get more circular splatter. It's such a fun process...sometimes I want to splatter everything!
Have a great week everyone!
