Today I have a fun tutorial for you: DIY Paint Chip Notebooks!!
Whenever I go to the home improvement store to pick out paint I always get super confused and I end up bringing home a TON of paint chips to choose from! And after picking out the perfect color for my project I can't bring myself to throw all of those paint chips away! They are just too cute and so I end up hanging on to them!!
I came up with a fun and easy way to use up all of those paint chips! It's a great way to recycle them instead of letting them sit in a drawer or tossing them in the trash! All you need are the paint chips and a few other supplies: hole punch (I prefer the We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile because you can punch through a lot of papers all at once), binder rings, embellishments to decorate your notebook if you wish.
Step 1: Arrange your paint chips in the order you want them and punch a hole in the top center.
Step 2: Place a binder clip through the holes to create your notebook.
Step 3: Decorate the cover of your notebook. I decided to add a gold rub on to one of mine and a sticker to the other. My Styleboard Ephemera Pack has a ton of die cuts that would be really cute to decorate the notebooks with as well!
I also attached some handmade tassels to the binder rings and I have a tutorial coming soon for those so you can make them too!!
These would make really cute gifts for friends!! I plan to make a bunch more (because I still have more paint chips on hand) and then I can give them away!
ONE IMPORTANT TIP >> Since the paint chips have a slick surface, it's important to use a sharpie or a Slick Writer pen from American Crafts to write on the notebook. Otherwise the ink will smear. I plan to include my favorite black Slick Writer pen with the notebooks when I give them away!
Have fun creating your own notebooks from paint chips!! Such a quick and easy project!! You could even make these with the kids as a fun summer craft! And remember to check back next week for the tutorial on how to make tassels!!
Happy Monday!
