Studio Calico >> Bluegrass Farm Reveal

It's that time again for the reveal of the newest Studio Calico kits! As usual there are LOTS of things to love and I will share my faves with you here!

Clover Add On Kit, Bessie Add On Kit, Pip Add On Kit, Gold Glitter Zing Embossing Powder, ZAP Heat Embossing Gun, Black Ink

The wood veneer piece is from the Pip Add On Kit. You can use thread to fill in the stitch holes or you can skip that step and emboss it with gold glitter embossing powder! Or you could do both! That would look fabulous!

I was in LOVE with the book paper, the wood veneer piece and the cork leaves from this kit, so I built the page in a way that allowed me to layer all of that and showcase it at the same time.

Bluegrass Farm Main Kit, Watercolor Papers OR Mister Huey's Watercolor Set, Medium Water Brush OR Bamboo Paint Brush, White Doily, Bluegrass Farm Printable Labels

On this layout I was wanting more of the yellow color from the Yay! badge. So I pulled out my water brush and watercolors (linked above) and painted the large heart onto the background paper. I kept going over it until I had it thick enough and dark enough. Once it was dry and I had the rest of the layout complete, I added the dots and caption right onto the painted heart with a My Favorite Pen.

Bluegrass Farm Main Kit, Hello Forever Printable, In a Creative Bubble Printable, Vellum

QUICK TIP >> The two large circles here are from the digital printables (linked above). You will want to open the .png files up individually and then resize them. You can open them in Photoshop to make them bigger or you can simply open the .png files into preview and change the size when you print by changing the scale to something larger than 100%. I just kept changing the percentage until I felt like it was as big as I wanted.

Bluegrass Farm Card Kit, Vellum, Tiny Attacher

I added a piece of book paper to the background on this card and then layered vellum over the top of it to make it more subtle. The punched circle pieces were the leftovers from this other card I made using the same supplies. It's a great way to use your scraps!!

Tutorial >> Misted Star Background

I love playing with mist and I also love creating fun backgrounds for my layouts, so this page combines both of those in a big and bold way!

It was a lot of fun to create and it uses basic supplies that you likely have on hand already. This would be really cute to do with hearts or butterflies or any punch you have to match your photos and theme!

I've created a detailed tutorial for making this scrapbook page including lots of images to show you exactly how to get this look!

Mini Album Class by Debby Schuh

Debby Schuh is a darling lady and fabulous teacher that I have had the privilege of knowing for a long time now! I just love when people in this industry are not only talented, but also genuine and sweet!

My jaw dropped open when I saw the pictures of the class she has created using my new Styleboard Collection so I wanted to share it with you!

She will be teaching this mini album class in lots of different states, plus France and South Africa!! You can find more pictures of the class along with her entire schedule, including where and when she will be teaching it on her blog here.

Thanks Debby for creating and teaching with my products! I just LOVE seeing what talented people like you are doing with it!

Styleboard Inspiration >> BOY pages!

 Here is a layout I created using my new Styleboard Collection and this one is all about the BOYS! 

It's no secret that I am a girly girl and my product lines truly reflect that in the colors, feminine touches, vintage florals etc. However I always make an effort to include lots of elements that can be used to scrapbook boys as well. Let's face it, we have 3 boys so I do spend a lot of time creating layouts that have a more masculine theme in addition to the girly ones.

This layout definitely showcases lots of those pieces in the collection that can be used for boy layouts too. For example these cork stickers are perfect for dressing up in a feminine way or for incorporating into a boyish color scheme.

Also these Charcoal Thickers are great because they go with any color scheme - boy or girl.

I've used lots of pieces from the Ephemera Pack in this layout and you can see here that there are a ton that again work for a boy or girl page!

Don't forget that it is ok to use bits of pink on boy layouts too! You can see here that my oldest son was dressed in a pink shirt so it ties in perfectly, BUT even if he wasn't in pink I would still be fine adding in a few of those elements, like the pink hearts or the sticker that says "love" in pink.

Do you find it hard to create masculine pages from collections that are super girly? If so, I hope this inspires you to look at all of the pieces individually and pull out the ones that will work. There are definitely a lot in the Styleboard collection that you can use for both boy and girl scrapbook pages!!

Studio Calico >> Bluegrass Farm Sneaks

 It's sneak time again and I am loving the vibe of this month's mood board! How cool is that camera and the wood plank piece with the star cut out? 

 

I played around with watercolors (using this water brush that I can't live without) on my first layout using the Main Kit only. It's definitely a favorite technique of mine and a way to add whatever pop of color you want to the kit!

This one also uses the Main Kit only and showcases those awesome wood grain plastic letters and some of the exclusive digital printable files as well!

I did some heat embossing on this next layout using my favorite GOLD embossing powder, embossing ink and heat gun!

Here is a peek at just how amazing the Card Kit is this month! I adore the papers and the idea of having them in miniature size for card making is simply irresistable!! And then can we talk about this DIVINE ribbon?! It had me hook line and sinker. I am not sure if it is real silk or not but it feels like it!

 

And finally, a peek at my favorite add on kit this month. Those cork leaves are so much fun! You can see a peek at the kit and a layout I created below.
