Last night we had a Christmas party at my parents house. We always do a big party on Christmas Eve up there and Santa comes but we had to do it early this year because my brother and his family will be in St. George for Christmas. In Matthew's words "we did have so much fun!" Santa Claus came and brought a gift for each of the kids! We also did our gift exchange with my brother's family since they won't be here. Of course, my boys got Power Rangers! They were so excited!
My mom's house is absolutely beautiful this time of year! She goes all out and decorates everything! I took a bunch of pictures of her tree, her beautifully wrapped presents and all of her fabulous decorations! I want to do a layout for my scrapbook with them - her house is so festive and I want to capture all of the details that she puts so much time and effort into! She also spoils all of us and does so much! Every year she says that she is going to not do so much and keep things to a minimum but then she just can't help herself! She has so much fun finding the perfect gifts for everyone and she loves to surprise us all with something really neat and special! My husband has always said that she is the best gift-giver he has ever known! She's the greatest!!
We had a wonderful dinner - so yummy - as is always the case at my mom's! My favorite part is always the candied sweet potatoes! I think that I had 3 or maybe even 4 helpings!!
The kids waited all evening by the front windows - watching for Santa. They were sure that he and Ruldolph were going to land right in the front bushes!! The looks on their faces were just priceless when he came in and sat down and started to call each one of them up to sit on his lap! Matthew, especially was soooo serious about the whole thing. It was funny!
Here are a bunch of photos from the evening! Nathan has still had a little bit of the flu so he was asleep when Santa was there. It just hit him a lot harder than it hit the other two boys. I was sad that he didn't get to do the whole Santa thing but I wanted him to get his rest! I feel so bad for the little guy - he has been so sick! I think that he is finally turning the corner though and is starting to recover!
Anyway - It was a great party. I just love this time of year - getting dressed up and having fun parties - spending time together and making memories! It is really fun this year because of the kids! They are at such a fun age - so into every moment and every aspect of Christmas - so excited for all of it!!
